Fusion Splicers and Cleavers have many movable parts and proper function enables high quality splicing and cleaving performance.

To avoid unexpected downtime and unsatisfactory results, both your Fusion Splicer and Cleavers require regular maintenance and servicing.

It is recommended that Splicers and Cleavers are Serviced every 12 months.

Recommended Daily Maintenance

In between servicing, daily maintenance is essential to prolong the life of your machine and to achieve optimum performance.

Fusion Splicers

Recommend cleaning of:

• V-grooves
• LEDs
• Bare fibre pads
• Microscope lens glass
• Heat shrink oven
• All working areas

Cleaning can be performed with a cotton tip dampened with isopropyl and a soft brush.

Replacing the Electrodes after approximately 5000 splices or as required.
A warning message will appear on the screen of some devices.

Fibre Cleavers

Recommended cleaning of:

• Sharps collection bin
• Fibre holders
• Dusting the inside areas with a fine brush
• All working areas

Cleaning can be performed with a cotton tip dampened with isopropyl and a soft brush.

Rotating of the blade may also be required on some devices.
